Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal data — and the rights you have over it.
Maccs Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to this website and to our dealings with clients, enquirers and prospects.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is Maccs Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company number 11717071, trading as Maccs Digital. You can contact us about any privacy matter at hello@maccs.digital.
The data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Information you give us — your name, email address, phone number, company details and the contents of any message when you complete a contact or enquiry form, email us, or engage us for work.
- Client information — details necessary to deliver our services, including access credentials, billing information and project materials, for clients we work with.
- Technical and usage information — limited, privacy-friendly analytics about how visitors use the site (see “Analytics” below), and, where you consent, marketing and advertising data via cookies and pixels (see our Cookie Policy).
How and why we use your data, and our lawful basis
For each thing we do, here's why we do it and our lawful basis under UK GDPR:
- Respond to enquiries and provide quotes — to answer you and take steps before any contract. Lawful basis: Legitimate interests / steps prior to a contract.
- Deliver our services to clients — to fulfil our agreement with you. Lawful basis: Performance of a contract.
- Send marketing emails and newsletters — to share relevant updates and offers. Lawful basis: Consent, or legitimate interests for existing clients (soft opt-in), with opt-out always available.
- Advertising and retargeting (Meta) — to measure and improve our advertising. Lawful basis: Consent.
- Site analytics — to understand and improve site performance. Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (no personal data / no cookies — see below).
- Accounting and legal compliance — to meet our legal obligations. Lawful basis: Legal obligation.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personally identifiable information. Because of this it runs without requiring consent and does not identify you as an individual.
Marketing and tracking technologies
Where you give consent via our cookie banner, we use:
- Meta Pixel — to measure advertising performance and reach relevant audiences on Facebook and Instagram.
- Brevo — our marketing and customer relationship management (CRM) platform, used to manage contacts, send communications and, where enabled, recognise return visits.
These only operate with your consent. You can review or withdraw consent at any time via or in our Cookie Policy.
When you submit a form, your details are sent to Brevo so we can manage and respond to your enquiry. This happens regardless of cookie consent because it is necessary to handle the request you have made.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, including:
- Brevo (CRM and email) — based in the EU.
- Meta (advertising, where consented) — based in the USA.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers (including WP Engine and Vercel).
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, and authorities where required by law.
Some providers are outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only as long as necessary. Enquiry data is retained for 24 months unless you become a client. Client and financial records are kept for at least six years to meet UK tax and legal requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, request its deletion, restrict or object to its processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@maccs.digital. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
