How we helped launch the world's first hotel loyalty debit card for Hilton Honors
Fintech Loyalty Partnership
Currensea came to us with a partnership to launch and a bigger problem sitting behind it.
The Hilton Honors card was the first one - a co-branded loyalty travel debit card, aimed at Hilton's own customers. But it was never meant to be a one-off. They needed the front end of a marketing funnel that could carry paid and organic traffic to a landing page, sell the card, and then be repeatable for the next partner without starting from scratch.
What we walked into
Two things made this harder than a normal landing page.
Nothing like this existed. This was the world's first hotel loyalty debit card, so there was no competitor page to look at and no established pattern for selling one. We were working out what the page needed to do at the same time as building it.
The second is that a co-branded product answers to two brands. Hilton's rules, Currensea's rules, and the compliance requirements that come with a financial product sitting over both. Every decision had to clear all three and still convert.
How we solved it
We built a template, not a landing page.
The Hilton Honors page was the first instance of it, but the structure underneath was designed to be repeatable - the same funnel shape, the same conversion path, the same tracking, with the brand and the product detail swapped out for whoever came next.
That decision shaped everything else. The page had to work for paid traffic arriving cold from an ad and organic traffic arriving with intent, which meant the top of the page was doing two jobs at once. It had to explain a product nobody had seen before to people with no reference point for it. And it had to hand over cleanly to Currensea's application flow.
- 01Built the front end of the partnership marketing funnel for the Hilton Honors launch
- 02Built landing pages to convert both paid and organic traffic
- 03Structured the build as a reusable template for future partner launches
- 04Worked to dual-brand requirements across Currensea and Hilton Honors
What happened
Hilton Honors launched as the world's first hotel loyalty debit card. It gave one of the largest hotel chains in the world its own consumer card product, and it gave Currensea a partnership model they could take to the next brand.
We've worked with Maccs Digital at Currensea and they've been a pleasure to work with. They've followed our brief right down to the pixel and ensured all functionality works soundly. All feedback is taken on board and applied swiftly, and they keep me well in the loop on progress. I look forward to maintaining our partnership to keep growing our presence online.
